WHO WAS JESUS? Usually folks who ask this question want to know what a person believes about Jesus' nature. Is He God? Was He an angel? If you're interested in our answer from that perspective, please check out our position on Oneness. This page takes a different approach: What was Jesus doing as He ministered among the people of Israel? We have an emerging theory about Jesus' life and ministry. It starts with a man named Simeon.

There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus...he took Him into his arms...and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed ~ and a sword will pierce even your own soul ~ to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed." (Lk 2:25-35)

In a nutshell, our theory is that Jesus targeted the human heart in order to force people off the fence of indecision about God. He exposed hearts with a fierceness. He left us nowhere to hide. "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it" (Mat 7:13-14). "Do you suppose I came to grant peace on the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division." (Lk 12:51)

This is what God wants: "to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed." (Lk 2:35) The gospels are not easy to read ~ not because they are difficult to understand, but because there is so much exposure to God's heart. You will either run to Him, or away from Him. Jesus was this way on purpose.

JESUS:  This section is dedicated to exploring questions related to who Jesus is. We will include other documents as time goes on. To start, we've got a short examination of the various theories people put forth to explain this most fascinating of personalities. Take a look and see what you think.
