ANGELS: "Why would you put a story about angels under polemics?" you ask. To make a point: Christianity, if you want it to work, must be lived with child-like faith. Traditional Christian apologetics fails to communicate how important this lesson is, and professional theologians speak as though they do not "see in a mirror dimly." Religious pride? Yes. Pride dressed in the robes of "Biblical" education. Jesus said, "Unless you are converted like this child you cannot enter the Kingdom of God" (Mt 18:3). How about you? Are you having a tough time finding the Kingdom of God? Are you attempting the Christian faith through your head, as if being theologically correct is kingdom living? How's that working for you? Not satisfied? Here's a story that requires child-like faith. You will either love it or ridicule it. Is the story true? We don't know, but we want to believe it is. It is much like the stories found in the Bible. It is the story of Roland Buck, an Assembly of God pastor who claims he received regular visits from angels for two years (1977-1979). The visits, lasting 2-4 hours each, total 50 hours of face-to-face angelic conversations. God gave him a list of 120 future events that would take place in his life for confirmation of these remarkable experiences. Shortly after the last one was fulfilled Pastor Buck unexpectedly died (November 6, 1979). We are not sure what all this means, but it is interesting reading.
